Witte plusguide® GmbH

 

1908: Establishment of the Hugo Witte Company in Solingen, trade with grinding and 
         polishing agents. 

1926: The son Friedrich Witte joins the company and beginning of the production of 
         grinding and polishing agents. 

1949: The individual proprietorship firm Albert Gerecke, originally established as a sign 
         factory in 1921 in Münster/Westphalia, becomes a general partnership after the 
         2nd World War and is continued as Gerecke + Lauer GmbH from 1973 on. 

1963: Establishment of the Friedrich Witte GmbH in Solingen by daughter and son-in-law 
         Marga and Andreas Schmitz Heinen. Trade with and production of grinding agents and
         industrial safety products, later adhesive tapes and self adhesive foils. 

1973: The Gerecke + Lauer GmbH begins with the production and marketing of screen 
         printed self adhesive foils for the area outdoor advertising and product marking under 
         the trademark plusprint®

1980: The Friedrich Witte GmbH begins with the production of printed adhesive tapes as well 
         as of type and rating plates made of high-quality foils.

1994: Certification according to DIN ISO 9000:1994.

1997: Acquisition of the subsidiary plusprint® GmbH of the Gerecke + Lauer 
         GmbH by the associates of the Friedrich Witte GmbH as well as the division for 
         vehicle safety products, registered under the name Witte plusguide® GmbH. The place 
         of business of this company is Münster. 

1998: Fusion of the Friedrich Witte GmbH with the plusprint® GmbH to Witte 
         plusprint® GmbH with place of business in Solingen, where the central 
         administration as well as a manufacturing plant are located. Münster becomes the 
         second production location. 

2002: Spin-off of the division safemark®, which up to then had been managed as a profit 
         centre, and which has been occupying itself for decades with the production of 
         safety-relevant printed products, into the Witte safemark® GmbH This step underlines 
         the importance and the special demands of this business segment. Place of business 
         of the company is Münster. 

2003: Certification of the Witte safemark® GmbH as value printer according to TÜV Cert TU 4 
         as well as the entire group according to ISO 9001:2000.

2004: Relocation of the administration department from Solingen to Wermelskirchen

2005: Formation of the DSD Staatliche Dokumente GmbH with company headquarters in Münster;
         The qualification as a "High Security Printer" of  Witte safemark GmbH through VPGI-Certification
         in accordance with Intergraf CWA Standards; Certification of Witte safemark GmbH and DSD
         through the "Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt"

2006: Certification of the Witte plusprint GmbH according to ISO/TS 16949:2002 through DEKRA Intertek Certifikation GmbH
